Do you have to, or do you want to?

fingerpointing

Are you reaching for a goal? If not, why?

What causes you to fear accomplishing something?

Do you fear not being able to accomplish something?

In our lives, there are many things that cause us to fear goals. I used to hate setting goals. I always felt that I could not accomplish what I set out to do. I had a track record of failure and I refused to see my successes. Too often I took on goals given me by others. They were not my goals, so I was not invested in seeing them to completion and only worked on them grudgingly. I remember that the first two months of the year were the worst for me at work because I knew someone was going to “give” me my goals for the year. Come up with some of my own, I was told, but I had no heart to make any that I wanted to stretch to attain because I was encumbered by someone else’s goals for me.

I broke through that wall when I finally quit my job. It took me a while to really start setting my own goals because I still hated them. I had dreams, but I never made them goals by writing them down and working on them. When I finally started taking steps to really make changes I wanted, things started happening quickly to help me find my way to success. I found a mentor who held me accountable and gave me encouragement. He taught me to break through my walls. I found who I am, and I now know where I am going. I take that message that I learned, the one I had to fix for myself, and share it with others so they can find the results they are looking for in their dreams.

Do you have a goal? If not, do you have a dream? Are you ready to make it a goal? Do you need a mentor to help you make it to the results you want? Is it time for you to shine?
