Walking To Your Beat – What Music Motivated Your Ancestors? – Connection Creator

Music Beat

The Music Creates The Beat Of Life

I have often wondered what some of my ancestors liked in music. Did they play an instrument? Did they consider music evil? How did they celebrate? What drove them in their lives?

I grew up on my dad’s music. I still listen to a lot of it. There was a lot to listen to in my youth and I remember listening to a lot of music that my grandfather listened to while we were driving or sitting in his home. I grew up on Neil Diamond, The Four Preps, The Kingston Trio, Heb Albert, German marching music, Roy Clark, and then whatever we could get on the radio in our remote country home. I never gave much thought to what I listened to at the time.

What Story Are You Creating?

I grew up thinking of sailing because a lot of what my grandfather listened to had a Schifferklavier playing. That’s a sailor’s piano, or accordion. The marching music was of course militaristic. It was what my grandfather grew up with. What you listen to becomes your story. You are putting into your conscious and subconscious mind what to expect in life. Listening to heartache and heartbreak songs can result in that kind of life. Songs of love are certainly for creating feelings of love, and relationships that are loving.

Do you listen to songs of despair or violence? Are you choosing patriotic songs? When you choose tunes to listen to, the melody is only part of the picture. I know many people who say they never listen to the words, but just because they do not consciously listen does not mean that there is not a message being put into your subconscious.

I have decided to be very careful about what I listen to once I learned of the power of music on my results.

How Did Music Affect Them?

I think that most agree that people who are melancholy usually listen to melancholy songs. Energetic people choose energetic tunes. More than likely, if I say, “eye of the tiger,” you think of a movie. The song elicits an emotion or memory that is attached to a memory. It is powerful, and that power should be used with care.

So how did it affect your ancestors. You may never know, though sometimes we are lucky enough to have a glimpse in a journal or a set of old records. I think that those with a light song in their hearts certainly lived a happier life, regardless of their circumstances. Take a lesson or two from your ancestors and how a tune may have led to their results.

Don’t allow yourself to blindly walk though life with the wrong song in your heart. Be purposeful. I know it will make a difference.
