What Discoveries Are You Seeking?
When it comes to living life at its fullest, seeking discoveries is a major tool to finding greater joy in life. Part of the human nature is to want to learn. Are you learning?
As you know, I am passionate about learning about my family and sharing insights about this that can help you in life. In the same way, making discoveries about any aspect of your life can lead you to new thoughts and perspectives.
Ask yourself, “What am I trying to learn?” Are you having a hard time coming up with something? Do ideas come flooding in?
Flow Is Important To Progress
Did you notice something about those questions? Does your life seem hard, or are you feeling the things you want in life are flowing to you?
Knowing what your life looks like is a great discovery. Understanding what to do with that knowledge is also a powerful tool to find greater joy.
Let me share an example. As I look for my ancestors and who they were, I have found that the more I want to know them, the more I find, but not always about the one person I am looking for.
In genealogy, the study of your lineage, it is considered a no-no to take your eye off of the person you are researching. I find that often I learn more about others than the one I am looking for in my journey. You see, I am interested in my lineage, but I am more interested in the connections and lessons I can find.
I obsessed over finding that “one” bit of information, and though it is important, much like smelling the roses, learning about people is far more fulfilling than a bit of data. You want information and feelings to flow, not be stuck trying to find one piece of a puzzle to the exclusion of everything else.
Where Do You Go If You’re Stuck?
When you think you are stuck, perhaps it is just time to change your perspective. Too often you may think that your life has no real movement when in fact, you just are not seeing that movement.
I used to think that my life was going nowhere. I felt trapped and unhappy. This is not an uncommon feeling for anyone. What changed for me? I realized that I was so focused on one aspect of my life that I was missing lots of other things that were moving me forward.
Many people focus on money or physical things as proof of movement toward goals. Though those are good ways to measure your progress, what else may you be missing?
How are your relationships? Do you get along with parents, spouse, or kids? Do you have friends you know you can rely on?
Is your health good, great, or so-so? Do you know, and like your neighbors? When problems arise, as they always will, do you get down, anxious, or do you find the lessons they bring and look at them with gratitude?
Where you go is your choice. No one else can choose for you, even if you tell them to make the choices. In the end, your life is your responsibility.
Find The Discoveries That Are Waiting For You
Take the drivers wheel in your hands. Don’t let the car drive itself. That is always a recipe for disaster in life. There is no autopilot for life.
As you seek and begin to find, you will learn that much has been waiting for you. If you want some help in the process, I am here to help. Drop me a line and lets talk.
I know that your life holds a lot of happiness and joy for you, but you will have to start wanting it enough to make the changes that will bring it.
